If you want to learn something, learn from the best. If you want to learn authentic Thai massage, hands down the top recognized master outside of Thailand is Dr. Anthony James, CMT, DPM, ND, MDAM, SMOKH. His professional development and certification programs have set the standards in the U.S.
In this comprehensive table Thai massage training CE course, you will learn it all – the basic and advanced techniques of this ancient healing modality and how to apply these techniques on a “modern” massage table. Rooted in Ayurvedic medicine, Thai yoga and massage promotes energy flow, flexibility, general health, and overall relaxation and revitalization. Aachen ("Master") James bridges the gap between Thai and western health concepts with a clinical foundation while emphasizing the spiritual roots and perspectives that have endured for thousands of years.
For a fundamental understanding of Thai massage, Aachen James discusses benefits and contraindications, origins of Thai massage, different styles (the Southern Royal Method, Northern Style, and Buddhai Sawan School), Ayurvedic anatomy (the primary Chakras and Sen lines), client assessment, balance vs. structural corrections, steps emulating energy flow, ten key points for balance, and room set-up.
In his table top Thai massage demonstration, he then walks you step-by-step through a complete session on a massage table. Beginning and ending with Puja (affirmation), Aachen James demonstrates techniques in the traditional Five Attitudes/Postures: Supine, Side Lying, Prone, Abdomen and Leg Stretching, and Seated. Techniques include gentle rocking, deep stretching, striking, kneading, pinching and rolling, pulling, rotations, and rhythmic compression with thumbs, palms, elbows, forearms, knees, and feet.
In the first Thai massage services demonstration Dr. James demonstrates a complete basic routine on the table with over 19 basic asanas (or therapeutic postures).
In the second Thai massage services demonstration Aachan James demonstrates a complete advanced routine on the table with over 50 asanas (or therapeutic postures).
